Isaac Mitchell awarded Alpha Epsilon Delta scholarship
Recent alumni Isaac Mitchell has been awarded the Maurice and Charlotte Moore Scholarship for medical school from Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED). This $2500 scholarship is awarded to only one student per region, and is in honor of Dr. Maurice Moore who served AED for over 60 years.
During his time at NNU, Mitchell served as President of the Idaho Beta Chapter of AED, which functions as both an Honor Society and a Service Organization. He was also a star runner with the track and cross country team, serving as team captain.
“Isaac Mitchell provided strong leadership to the Idaho Beta chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta during his senior year. He was an outstanding student, athlete and a delightful individual—who will soon be a skilled and compassionate doctor. I think this was why the local chapter nominated him for this scholarship from the national AED and we couldn't be more pleased that he was selected for our region,” said Dr. Jennifer Chase, Associate Professor of Biology.
Mitchell graduated from NNU in 2018 with a degree in biology and is currently a first-year medical student at Loma Linda School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California.
“It is an honor to receive this AED scholarship. It is so encouraging to see that the things we do here at NNU’s AED pre-health club are recognized at a national level,” Mitchell said. “I look forward to witnessing the positive impact that the NNU AED club will have on the Treasure Valley community in years to come.”
