Honors College to host Professor Peter S. Onuf

The Northwest Nazarene University Honors College will present a lecture by Professor Peter S. Onuf on Thursday, April 13, at 7 p.m. in NNU’s Wiley Learning Center. Onuf will be speaking on “A Faithful Republican: Thomas Jefferson and Religion.” The lecture is free and open to the public, and time for questions will follow.

Professor Onuf is one of the leading Jefferson scholars in the world. He is the Thomas Jefferson Foundation Professor of History Emeritus at the University of Virginia, and Senior Research Fellow at the Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticello. He has written extensively on U.S. history, with a particular emphasis on the political thought of Thomas Jefferson. His most recent book is "Most Blessed of the Patriarchs: Thomas Jefferson and the Empire of the Imagination" (2016), co-authored with Pulitzer Prize winner Annette Gordon-Reed. Onuf is also a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
